Service Description

Mahjong 201 is designed for players who have completed a Mahjong 101 lesson, whether with me or another instructor, and are comfortable navigating general gameplay on their own. Students should be able to move through the Charleston, select a hand from the card, and follow the basic rhythm of play without needing frequent support. While Mahjong 101 focuses on building your own hand and understanding game flow, this Mahjong 201 shifts your attention outward to what is happening around the table. You will learn practical strategies for recognizing what other players may be pursuing, reading exposures, deciding when to exchange jokers (and when not to), and being more intentional about your discard choices. We'll even learn how to bait another player's joker(s) out into exposures. You do not need to be an expert or a seasoned player to take this lesson. In many ways, strong defensive play actually grows out of offensive thinking (which is what we learn in Mahjong 101). The better you understand what is happening around the table, the better positioned you are to protect and improve your own hand. This course is meant for players who are ready to think more strategically, sharpen their instincts, and become more confident, well-rounded competitors at the table.
